Context

A European industrial equipment manufacturer needed a new Customer Identity and Access Management application to manage user and partner authorizations, built from scratch, with an MVP live within the year. Scope, priorities, and fit to the wider identity landscape were unclear.

Approach

Used capability-based reasoning — what authorization decisions must be supported, what context is required, how policy governance should evolve — and made trade-offs explicit through a prioritized backlog and roadmap that served both vendor selection and internal planning.

Outcome

Delivered a capability map, prioritized scope, and implementation roadmap for a new CIAM authorization-cockpit application, enabling a cost-effective vendor selection and a controlled build plan within a tight MVP window.
